Join Newcastle's first ever Fairtrade Trail this Fairtrade Fortnight

Find local gems, get your steps and win Fairtrade prizes while supporting the world's makers and growers, with Newcastle's Fairtrade Trail.

For two special weeks, take part in The Fairtrade Trail, a first-of-its-kind activity which will guide you through the canny streets of Newcastle and to the city's finest ethical establishments, ranging from independent shops to cozy cafes and community spaces.

This event marks Fairtrade Fortnight 2026, an annual celebration of the people who grow the food we eat and make the things we love, organised by the Fairtrade Foundation.

How can I take part?

Visit any of the venues on our dedicated Fairtrade Trail Map and find the fair trade themed artwork on display. Take a picture and share it with us for your chance to win a selection of Fairtrade prizes, including a hamper of fabulous treats and gifts from our friends at Ethiqana, Zaytoun and The Co-op.

Where is the Trail taking place?

You can find participating venues across the city, from Heaton, Byker and Jesmond, to Ouseburn, the Quayside and the City Centre.

Fairtrade forms the fabric of fair and just trading systems across the globe. Especially in Newcastle, which became one of the first Fairtrade cities in England in 2003.

Independent shops make up only a small share of Newcastle’s food market, with most spending directed toward supermarkets and chains which do not benefit local people or sustainable production.
