COFFEE AND COMMUNITY AT SCA

COFFEE AND COMMUNITY AT SCA
04 April 2023

We are looking forward to returning to SCA (Specialty Coffee Association) conference - North America’s largest specialty coffee trade show. The conference attracted over 10,000 attendees last year in Boston and almost 2,000 were international attendees from a vast range of countries around the world.

This year, the conference takes place in Portland and Shared Interest South America Lending Manager Jhonny Cabellos is joining Karolina Jimenez Central and North America Customer Service Representative (pictured below) for the four-day event.

Jhonny said: "This event is the most important one in the coffee industry calendar, attracting people from across the supply chain and all over the world. Shared Interest will be present to accompany our customers and buyers from different countries and continents, and we also hope to make some new connections while we are there.

"Our participation this year is particularly important due to the known events that are affecting the world coffee sector. Among the primary issues we plan to explore are the effects of coffee demand in Central and South America regions, especially in light of the increase in the coffee minimum fair trade price, and the impacts of European laws on carbon emissions on coffee exports in the current and upcoming years. The conference fosters a real sense of community, and we look forward to being a part of it."

The Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) supports global coffee communities to help make coffee a more sustainable, equitable, and thriving industry. From coffee farmers to baristas and roasters, their membership spans the globe, encompassing every element of the coffee value chain. The conference is said to reflect this, creating a varied audience of roasters, retailers, growers and producers alongside importers, exporters and wholesalers.
