Twitter Policy
Twitter is a 'microblogging' platform which allows users to post and exchange short messages (up to 140 characters in length) and converse publicly with other users via a mobile phone or web browser. Twitter allows users to share links to online information, publish photographs and share other media such as video.
With the exception of direct messages exchanged between users, all messages (or 'tweets') are public and visible to all for review, comment and sharing regardless of whether you have a Twitter account or not.
CONTENT
Twitter is a great way for us to keep you informed about events, new lending, ideas and our latest news and developments. You can also share your thoughts, views and feedback directly with us and ask us any questions you may have.
Our Twitter account is managed by the Member Engagement Team on behalf of colleagues across Shared Interest Society and Foundation.
If you follow us on Twitter, you can expect between 1-3 tweets each day covering new lending, events, campaigns and member interest stories.
Take a look at our most recent tweets on our twitter page and whilst you're there, we invite you to follow us @SharedInterest, @SharedIntAmbs and @SharedIntFdn
HASHTAGS (#)
It is a convention among Twitter users to distinguish content using hashtags. Hashtags are semantic tags (keywords), preceded by a # sign. This enables users to search and filter information based on keywords and share information more meaningfully. Hashtags also allow users to quickly identify 'trending' topics (as displayed on the Twitter.com homepage).
We will use hashtags when:
- Providing live coverage of events (live-tweeting),
- Promoting a campaign e.g. #investinafairerworld
LINK SHORTENING
Unless they are already very short URLs, tweets will be shortened using link compressing sites for example ow.ly.com.
FOLLOWING US
If you follow @SharedInterest, @SharedIntFdn and/or @SharedIntAmbs we will not automatically follow you back. This is to discourage the use of direct messaging, avoid resource-wasting spam handling, and so that you can easily identify other key Twitter users that we think are relevant to Shared Interest. However, being followed by Shared Interest does not imply endorsement of any kind.
UNFOLLOWING
As part of account maintenance and monitoring, the Member Engagement Team regularly reviews accounts it is following. This may result in unfollowing accounts.
AVAILABILITY
The department updates and monitors its Twitter accounts during office hours, 9:00am - 5:00pm Monday to Friday. Twitter may occasionally be unavailable and we accept no responsibility for lack of service due to Twitter downtime. Tweets may be made outside of these times but we may not be able to reply individually or immediately to all of the tweets we receive, so encourage you to contact the Member Engagement Team by email: comms@shared-interest.com or Tel: 0191 2339100.
LISTS
In the interest of organising our followers into meaningful categories and providing followers with useful industry and topic information, we may create publicly viewable lists of organisations following our twitter accounts.
Inclusion on lists does not imply endorsement of any kind.
Should an organisation not wish to be included on a list created by the department, it may request to be removed from the list by sending a direct message to the relevant department twitter account.
PRIVACY
Shared Interest does not capture or record the contact details of parties following its Twitter accounts.
