Environmental Project: Nicaragua
In September 2019 we began supporting UCA SJRC, a fair trade coffee co-operative in Northern Nicaragua, to address issues of deforestation and soil pollution affecting their farmers. This project provided 100 coffee farmers with environmental education training, built 65 water treatment filters to reduce the soil pollution caused by wastewater from the coffee production process and planted 3,000 trees to replenish forestland, increase soil fertility and reduce soil erosion.
This project was joint funded by UCA SJRC and the funds accrued in the Shared Interest Carbon Offset Fund.
