Partnership continues to be a cornerstone of our impact. This year, our collaboration with the Smallholder SustaiNability Upscaling Programme (SSNUP), enabled us to design technical assistance projects that align with our customers’ needs.
This partnership extended the reach of our work, bringing together expertise in finance, training and sustainability to maximise positive outcomes for the producer organisations Shared Interest works with.
In May 2025, Shared Interest Foundation successfully applied to SSNUP for support to deliver a project in partnership with Rwandan coffee co-operative and Shared Interest customer, Tropic Coffee.
Project Overview
Launched in July, this 12 month project, titled ‘Sustainable Coffee Futures: Building climate and value chain resilience in Cyato, Rwanda’, is funded by ADA as part of the SSNUP programme, and aims to strengthen the sustainability of the coffee supply chain, directly supporting 500 farmers in the Cyato region of Rwanda.
As part of this latest ‘Building Climate Resilience’ project, farmers will receive training and resources, including the establishment of demonstration farms, to adopt sustainable farming practices to improve their production of speciality coffee and increase their income through enhanced productivity and increased climate resilience.
Further training in financial literacy and leadership skills will be provided to empower female farmers, and the co-operative will receive training to prepare for certifications in Organic and Fairtrade.
